A Cause for Optimism?

President-Elect Obama’s appointments seem quite fortuitous for marine biologists, and this post on CHANGE.GOV makes it sound like someone might want to give me a job when I graduate. Then why did the person I interviewed with yesterday suggest there would be an immediate hiring freeze after the inauguration? I suppose it could take time to get the budget squared away, but I am hopeful that the new political climate will lead to more science jobs which in turn will benefit both the country, and, well, me.
